Anti-Racisim Study

Over the past few years, the church has been involved with various aspects of racism. Groups have read many of the books that addressed the issue. Others have joined organizations in Austin dedicated to overcoming racism. The Adult Sunday School Class spent most of a year studying criminal justice reform and prison reform. The death of George Floyd has resulted in more intense discussion of how we can help promote the changes so badly needed. Recently Whit Bodman and Liz Nash have agreed to organize small groups in the church to have Zoom meeting to help with this effort. Warinda Harris agreed to help with setting the direction of these discussions. The first round of meetings has been completed and the second round scheduled. The goal is not only to help individuals understand white racism, but to provide some direction to the church as its seeks to commit to a more active role in eradicating this sickness in our society.
